NBA Notes 4/29/2008
- Larry Brown is the new coach of the Charlotte Bobcats. I expect that team to be pretty good out of the east next year. They have talent and I think they have very few (if any) “me-first” type players. I think Larry Brown will have them playing the right way and winning a lot of games in the inferior Eastern Conference.
- I’m not a big George Karl fan, but he shouldn’t be fired. That roster is garbage and if Rex Chapman (wait, Rex fucking Chapman is the GM?) knows what’s good for him he’ll ship out Carmelo ASAP.
- Byron Scott as the Coach of the Year? Please. Byron is an adequate coach, but it drives me nuts when coaches get awards when they have dominant PG’s who obviously drive the team.
- The Celtics will probably end up winning the 1st round series against the Hawks, but hopefully people come back down to earth about that team. They’ve done what they’ve done in a historically bad Conference. The Celtics are an extremely good team, but they aren’t pantheon level by any stretch of the imagination.
- The Lakers sweep of the Nuggets doesn’t tell us a whole bunch as the Nuggets are an awful team. They play like a pick-up team. The 2nd round series against the Jazz will tell us a hell of a lot more. I expect a very good series.
