Sharky on Gilbert Arenas
I remember watching Gilbert during his last season in Golden State right before he became a free agent. I remember thinking to myself that the guy was the flu. He was a selfish, shoot first guard who clearly was playing for a contract with little regard for his teammates or the win and loss column.. I thought whoever signed him would be making a fatal mistake. After Washington signed him he became a legit superstar and because of his humor, accessibility (via his blog) and all-around nice-guyness he has become a fan favorite. NBA junkies love him. I count myself among that group. I like Arenas. A lot. But he’s still that shoot-first guard and from a basketball perspective he’s still the flu. The Wizards should let him fulfill his inevitable destiny of being the alpha dog on a perpetual loser like the Los Angeles Clippers and build their team around another all-around nice guy in Caron “Tough Juice” Butler.
